FRAPS runs really smooth with it....of course, this always depends on your system specs. :)
My work pc handles it sweet. my laptop, not so much.

Depending on your rig, it's best to keep compression to a minimum so your frame rates are decent. I record at 1024x768x60fps. I have a 4TB Raid0 array for recording which consumes 4GB every 3-4 minutes. It works at 30fps too but the game isn't as smooth as it is with 60.

I use wmv or mp4 to encode the video after its recorded.

I'll need to get back on teamspeak--my voice is so astonishingly sexy.

The only voice better than mine is that of Oddball

"Come ova here you duuuuuuuu'rty little c**t"

But he doesn't respond to my emails anymore. I hope he didn't die in a mining accident. :(

What do you use to encode? AutoGordianKnot?

I have After Effects but have never bothered with it. AutoGordianKnot works wonders at simple conversion, tho.
