notice "chicken.bmp" in the upper-left-hand panel. I found that in the zfs years ago, and I have no idea what it does. What DOES it do??!??

Chicken was a MP game type that wasn't coded as far as i can tell.
I always wondered why "koth" and "ctf" was not finished either but i would like to see MPI and Team Dm.

It must have been dropped from gameplay before the game was released... Hopefully someone can tell me what it was used for...
edit: ah, thanks dx

I would assume those were all aspects that the devs planned on adding but had to abandon when the funding was cut.Dx. wrote:Chicken was a MP game type that wasn't coded as far as i can tell.

I don't remember that one. I'll have to see if I have it in my "archive."{911}scrapmkr wrote:there was a koth map.

koth is a game type, it was never finished any koth maps are just dm, in koth if it worked you would get a timer and probably different scoring at the top of the screen, i think.

Re: chicken...
yes and there is a DM map with a timer on it.
I can't recall the name
but if you look at it from the air it is a raised plateau, with 4 spiral ramps up to it. and in each of the spaces in the ramp arm is a weapon powerup.
I didn't use those much I usually just sniped the guy out of his tank and then jumped in

Re: chicken...
the map description sounds a little familiar...but not the name.
Checked and I don't think I have it.

Re: chicken...
I know this map, I believe it comes under the name of King of the Hill, the timer is an additional column with Ping, Kills, and Deaths. If you guys don't have if I should be able to get it from a stock installation. I think the map's ok, but the thing is the time doesn't really do anything but tick up when your inside the inner ring of pylons. From what I've been told in the past, the timer only works on that map, like it's a built in thing.{911}scrapmkr wrote:yes and there is a DM map with a timer on it.

Re: chicken...
You can activate the timer on any map....DM or Strat. It only really work on DM....just stays at zero on Strat.
If it's King of the Hill then I think we've got it.
I'm not much of a DM'er, so my familiarity with DM maps is limited.

Only reason I remember it so well is because it's such an oddball. It's kinda like Hidden Palace Zone for Sonic 2, some code left in for intented content that was never fully realized.hitchcockgreen wrote:You can activate the timer on any map....DM or Strat. Yes, I would imagine I've played at least an accumulated 200 hours in 'King of the Hill' over the past 13 years.
That map needed kill points removed from the scoring and only record the time you were in the square. Most all games I ever played in that map people ignored the center square timer and went solely for kills. . defeating the purpose of the idea.

Re: chicken...
I think I know what chicken's mechanis are/would be - one versus all. When the one player is killed, the killer takes his place.

Re: chicken...
Or, alternatively, it could be like the game of "Ditch" we used to play at school. One person tries to track down everyone else, and as soon as he kills someone they change to his team, and the new team members try to kill others to add to the team. This continues until there is only one player left who hasn't switched to the offensive team, and the round ends and he begins as the new sole offender.

That's a sort of "High Man". Used a lot in these last 3 years when there's only 3 players around.
