Alias Origins
Ok, now ancestral names aren't the source of my alias. Honestly. It was just a strange coincidence that it turned out that way. I had been doing some genealogy digging back in 2003 and had settled on HitchcockGreen in 2001-2002.
"Green" in this instance being a short form for Greenberry.
Funny, right?

Twilight Zone!
I was thinking about doing a DNA test to trace my family history on my fathers side, since the records were burned by an idiot. What's a good service to use?

I was playing a game called Black and White and I clicked on a fireball miracle and the game announcer lady in a euro accent said, "XTREME" cause it was a really powerful fireball
And it was hott (2 t's) so I used this name

No idea. I was fortunate (?) enough to have a Mormon relative somewhere along the line that did most of the work for me.Sno wrote:Twilight Zone!

Re: Alias Origins
My alias is almost always misinterpreted by those who haven't reached puberty. It dates back to pre-Internet days when AOL was king. AOL implemented TOS and the TOS police started cracking down on people's names. I bet a buddy of mine that I could get a name past the TOS police so we started trying all sorts of names and most were caught but FirBirGir survived and I won the bet.
Some of the typical guesses are:
fire bird girl
fire bi girl (I would get whispers like "Are you really a girl and are you really Bi?")
fiber girl (never figured out why someone would think anyone would be a fiber girl...)
The funny part is getting someone to say it out loud. Then they usually get it.

Mine comes from my military days of doing drug interdiction in the Pacific. We were moving cocaine bails to a different compartment and I said aloud "These would make a damn fine snow cone" and it kinda stuck ever since for the guys that were there.

Generally speaking, snowcones can give you brainfreeze, but not usually nosebleeds.Sno wrote:Mine comes from my military days of doing drug interdiction in the Pacific. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. and he was beyond puberty too. LOL when I 'splained it to him Lucy,
he was cracking up then, FINALLY. I wonder how explained to his wife and kids that he hadn't reached puberty yet.
