BZU

Post by BB1 »

BZU is gone now, ending an era in the community. That was a pretty large hub for BZ1 and BZ2 modders, mappers, and developers.

Long live bzc...

I was wondering where all the BZU folks were going to go from here? That was a pretty important website from what I could tell, especially with pb1.6.

I am afraid I may have released a bit too much sensitive history of Bio-metal, and mentioned a few too many names and places and embarrassing situations.

My rather weak defense is I didn't think a backwater website would be noticed, albeit, a site that indirectly shared a history with Bio-metal.

Sorry.

I would like to make one comment here and hope it does not enrage those in power to shut this forum down.

A screenplay was close to completion that was to tell the entire story of Bio-metal, edited for release, and was weeks away from a full marketing campaign. Distribution to theaters was set for October 2010. Obviously, I was bursting at the seams to share the news, but I promised to hold my tongue.

All the history I have shared in the last months was to lube the barrel for BZ fans. It was my way of sharing, but not spilling the beans, about the film.

Then. . . for no explanation my sources can provide, the project was frozen. A completely new premise was decided. It has now been severely edited, mutated and trashed, into a silly "horror flick" with as much usable footage that could be salvaged from the film.

I'm afraid there are still powerful forces within our government determined to keep biometal a fanciful history.

Seeing this will make Spock do a Croatian dance- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhP6_ZY_TbI

Then he'll jump on his forum and proclaim his cult is victorious after battling through the long, brutal, winter and summer days on cyberspace.

Ok, the BZU has been deleted by the owner because some kid drove accross country to spray paint bzu sucks on his car. Also a DoS attack had been done.

Atleast the kid has been caught and locked up.

The covert 'Oswald' technique. Plausible deniability.

The kid probably actually believed in his confused reasoning too.

The new BZU. I suggest everyone here pay a visit, as BZU was arguably the only hub where BZ1 and BZ2 players would meet. I urge you to be part of Battlezone's history in rebuilding this hub, plus meet some other players from across the fence.

Wow, that kind of crosses the line. The kid got what he/she deserved after doing that to the car. I don't have a grudge against anyone...I'd even drink a beer with Spock. I might have to tell him to shut up a few times, though

I'd be willing to buy a very recent (>12-1-10) backup of the BZU forum.

Say. . .$100, if Sonic can salvage it from an un-delete app.

What site or archive are you suggesting?

All I see are archives for around 2005 at the latest.

I tried the wayback machine already, it wasn't able to get anything. CmptrWz seems to have blocked it. And the latest backup Sonic has is sometime in 2009.

Good news is, the culprit isn't going to be able to buy the domain themselves, because Wz is sitting on it.

Thank God he didn't release the domain. Last thing we need is someone using that domain name to troll the community.

Not keeping a somewhat recent backup, and deleting everything else, makes you realize how fragile any forum is, and the disposition of those maintaining them.

Doesn't surprise me. Battlezone has been known to attract some of the craziest people alive.

I felt the admins had a corncob stuck up their butts over there when it came to BZ1 and the moderators could barely suck on a milk bottle. No big loss as far as I'm concerned.

The overwhelming confusing aspect to BZU was the fact that BZE was taboo because you could play multi-play without the CD.

Yet BZ1.5 had its own freakin' section and you can play MP and SP!

Whacky rationalization over there for sure. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that backup discipline was non existent.
