Having had one run-in with legal crap already, we didn't want to go anywhere near it again, which meant pretty much anything that could run without the main game already installed was something of a taboo.Blunt Force Trauma wrote:The overwhelming confusing aspect to BZU was the fact that BZE was taboo because you could play multi-play without the CD.
Yet BZ1.5 had its own freakin' section and you can play MP and SP!
Whacky rationalization over there for sure. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that backup discipline was non existent.

Re: BZU
Well, that just sucks big-time. I can't believe somebody would do that to Wz's car over a website and a game, I suppose I can see his motivation for the shut-down.
BZU was a good place to go as many ppl would post there, Ken was doing his updates for 1.5 there, I'm sure they will continue here though. It was a bit restrictive in disallowing discussions of BZE, I can't see as the "piracy" issue is very much of a problem now that the game is nearly 13 years old.

Re: BZU
The piracy issues were brought to the surface by the buffoons who had themselves violated the EULA and other license issues.
Anyone not involved completely in the history of BZ doesn't fully know the goofs that caused most of the angst and animosity over the years.
However, if driving 3000 miles to vandalize someone's car is true, that certainly sets a new record for complete imbecile.

Really somebody Vandalized a Car over BZU?
That is pretty sad to be sure. OTOH, those foolish admins were all hot at ME because I took some dipwad telling me I should get punched in the mouth seriously, Zero something or other. Not after what The WALL and I went through years ago. all online crap is serious, until proven otherwise.

Ohh.. if only you knew...
probably a guy right?
we had a situation on TeamBattlezone years ago playing tribes. our player named "Chandra" turned out to be a guy. probably pretty messed up guy, but a guy nonetheless.
and Chandra would pop into the game XOing everybody. sheesh. it was nuts.
the guy's brother or roomate(I don't recall) finally ratted him out. probably figured out they didn't want some nutcase for a roomate.

I registered. But I'm apprehensive, but willing to give it a chance.Sno wrote:Someone needs to crack the whip on Sporkinator for proclaiming Specky's website is the main BZ1 website
I don't mind spock's site getting mentioned as long as everyone's site or forum can be mentioned and linked to. The new site will show its true colors, good or bad, soon enough. Give it a couple weeks.
But once again, at this point in time, it's all academic since the entire community wouldn't be enough for a decent keg party.

Eeeewww. Imagine some wierd pale-skinned fat guy posing as a girl and getting his rocks off over your attentions to his pseudo-girl personality.
Another form of Internet molestation. I think I'd spray Lysol on my keyboard after talking to a guy(girl?) like that.
Hey hitchcockgreen, do you still have your big IA maps archive up? I've got 16-18 unreleased maps and though eddy has given me webspace I just don't see going to the effort of setting all that stuff up for map d/l given our shrinking community. Anyway, what i could do is send you maybe 2-3 maps every week or two if you want to host them. I could post a new thread here for each set of maps w/comments and wait for you to upload them and put up links in the next thread post, then others here can d/l the maps off your site (I'm assuming you have good bandwidth allowance). PM me with a message and email addy if you want to do this, I'd just as soon put these up somewhere so they don't go to waste.
