I used to live in Mississippi, and I agree with what one of the commenter's said - they probably thought it was another term for bestiality. No disrespect if you live/have relatives there, but the way the Mississippi culture is is completely backwards. Mississippi Republicans and Democrats have never had their head on right (where's the democrat poll for this anyways?)

Yeah that's what's missing, right? I'm going to assume this is mostly a regional perspective and the paper reporting it has a democrat slant.
They should very much have included a poll with the same questions to the democrats.
Either way....wow. Talk about living in a time warp.

The US has pockets of complete ignorance and areas of very progressive insight. The article appears to be exposing an area of concentrated dumbasses.

If nothing else, who's to say what's interracial? If my DNA has some markers for a deeply buried middle eastern ancestor and my wife's DNA doesn't match exactly, I guess we're both up for a lynching!

On top of that, what's a "pure" race? There's no such thing.

Whether they talked to a bunch of idiots or not, it's impossible to say since they provide no insight to how the survey was conducted. I think most people know you can get exactly what you want from a survey by asking the right question. Such as:

"Do you think it's proper for a white man to marry a white woman?"

If you answer yes, then you must think anything else is improper. You can get nearly 100% against/for something by asking the right question ;) Of course we have no idea if they asked that particular question or not, or how the Dems answered the same question. To Hitch's point, at least the article was politically driven.

Does anyone know the other logic fallacies commonly used?

You mean things like loaded questions and personal attacks? It's been about a year since I went over those, I'm a bit rusty on that subject.

Yes, that's two of them. The most of the general public will fall for them. Just think politicians and election time.

I think there are a few more, as well. The whole poll is a farce, to be sure.

Not just a few, I think I learned about 10~15 fallacies, and those were the more common ones. Things like limiting people to your choice or a horribly s**t one, one about snowball effects. I personally hate loaded questions with a passion.

Yes there more than 10-15 :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies

I meant there were a few more in that article.
