Some blacker Black Dogs
Got interested in playing about with the darker B-Dogs concept after hitchcockgreen suggested it in the other skins pack thread. Did some experimenting and came up with these 2, thought I'd see what ppl think. No zip pack yet, want some feedback, maybe could do some more of these, not as a full army pack, but a subset of skins for dm and such. So here are pics.

I think the black on the wing of the Git could do with a little more depth as it's a bit flat at the moment, but other than that these are really good

AHadley, if you look at the stock Red devil skin you will see the same portion of the wing is dead black also, here the contrast is just not as great, due to the main body being black as well (really a very deep, dark grey). Main body RGB value is 17,16,16, while the center wing portion is 0,0,0 (jet black). I think it looks good like this but I could try something else if you have a suggestion - oh, and note, the dead black is what really brings out the hollow star contrast.
So, if you guys like these, what other units should be done for multiplayer purposes? Probably the bomber, the razor in the other skins pack is alrady as good as it gets, do the Rocket Tank, Walker, and other greenish units get used much?

All jet black!
The only criticism I might have for the Git is that it may need more darker, contrasting lines on it. It may just be the angle of the screenshot, though I'm not sure. But compared to the Grizzly it's more monotone, if you know what I mean.
However, I realize that all units that were exclusive to TRO were a lot glossier looking than the original models.

In DMs I don't think the Rocket Tank or Walker get used much at all. I've always hated the NSDF walker anyway, so I personally almost never use it. In fact, I'd often switch it out for the Chinese walker.ssuser wrote:So, if you guys like these, what other units should be done for multiplayer purposes? Looking purdy good. I like this picture and the red face that belongs to an elite unit like the Black Dogs.

Forget TAGs, give them a comet burst. Watch the pieces fly. Too bad they won't actually lock onto pilots in-game.
The Git does look sharper from the ground angle, this static screenshot doesn't really do it justice. I may have to rework the engine exhausts a bit though - you can't see them in this pic, but they look a bit off.
So - maybe just these and the bomber for deathmatch then. Maybe I'll do the turret too, just for kicks. I've done some preliminaries on the bomber and it's going to be a problem, with all the contrast from top to bottom and that black center wing section. I may need to try a different color for that to work out ok, maybe a darker red, we'll see.

Re: Some blacker Black Dogs
Well, I did one more, the bomber, and I think that's it for now, below is a screenshot. This one didn't turn out quite as neat as the other 2, but it's still a pretty ok unit, IMO. Biggest change is the red wing feathers on the back deck - I suppose a BDog shouldn't have feathers, but that big batwing back there just looked horrible, I hope you guys like the feathers instead.
Also, I'm just going to try posting the 3-pack of skins here, I hope the forum allows zips - Hotmail seems to be in full malware mode at the moment so I'll put it here...
That seemed to work. Let me know what you think of these - hitchcockgreen, you can add this zip to the other stuff you have at your site as well.-

If you want TRO, buy it.

A retail TRO can run on modern OS with a little work.
If you poke around, you can find it.
There are currently petitions on GoG.com for them to carry Battlezone/TRO. As I understand it, GoG is currently in negotiations with Activision to acquire a number of their old titles for resale.
Given the complicated licensing issues with those titles, I wouldn't hold my breath.
