Windows 8 UI

Post by hitchcockgreen »

Well if anyone is familiar with Office 2010...just think of that. Convoluted and somewhat retarded.
I'll be skipping Win8 thanks.

I see that they're using HCI-design as part of their design implementation, but it still looks kind of barf-tastic.

Looks like absolute s**t. I hate "the Ribbon."

Linux is going to end up my primary desktop OS I think.
Not that I don't like Win 7. It's fine. Win8 will all be about tablets. For desktop users you can just skip it altogether. Win9 will be out about a year after Win8 and that will be the enterprise OS. That'll mean a new server OS, and a new Desktop OS.
Christ I hope they ditch that f*** ribbon.

Just skip over Win8, folks are still using XP and look how old it is.

Win7 is my new XP, it'll be awhile before I switch...

Yeah I have no intention of using Windows 8 in any sort of production environment. You know I'll load it up in a VM just to take a peek under the hood.

I'll wait and see what Win9 is like though.

1 thing good about the win 8 is that he can run X360 games

I think that's still rumour. I know that Kinect will come to Windows 8 PCs, but that's all we really know. So far as I've been able to tell, there are no confirmed reports that you will be able to play Xbox games on your Win8 PC.

Windows 8 also goes on to sort of be an single OS to rule them all. Where tablet and media center support started with Win XP, and then was modified and refined in Vista/7, Win8 will go further to that effect. Quite likely it will also run natively on Windows phones, as well.

Personally, I just don't like the look of it. I'm sure someone will discover a registry tweak to restore a Windows 7 explorer.
