^EXACTLY

Too many people use their ethnicity/gender as a way to obtain a hand out here in the USA. The "American Dream" is having the freedom to do what you want with your life and reaping the rewards from your hard work.

Keeerect!

Equality for all is a double edged sword. You have to expect to be treated as an equal, and people have to be willing to treat you like one.
Unfortunately, that's not how it's panned out....

I think if you are of average intelligence, get an education in a reasonable and responsible manner and work hard and steady, don't piss people off, you deserve a fair shake in our capitalistic society.

A corporate elite who is paid or "compensated" 300 times the 'average guy' in the same company screams something is broken. Is that CEO or CFO, 300 times more intelligent? 300 times more of a go-getter? Does he offer 300 times more value? THREE HUNDRED times?

I think not.

Yeah. Definitely not. 300X more psychotic? Probably.

There are some studies by notable criminologist Robert Hare that find the vast majority of psychopaths are non-violent and typically seek positions of power within corporations and similar such positions. Psychopaths seek power, in many forms. The minority seek it over individuals by killing them. The rest by dominating them in other ways.

See a pattern? Sound familiar?

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are good examples of people who deserve to get what they receive (had, for Jobs). If you're familiar with how Jobs pushed his employee's, you might have a different opinion  These types of CEO's know what's going on and hot damn...can they make a company grow large (regardless of your OS preference, you know this is true).

Some people get paid 300x just because they're good at business deals and networking, which may or may not reflect on their education or natural personality. A good example is my ex room mate who I've named..."dumb nuts." He had a natural talent networking and was getting interviews for positions worth $120K. Thankfully, he's really an idiot and thus didn't get them. Still, that alone doesn't make someone who's good at-said networking 300x better than someone else in the same company who get's paid 300 times less.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are both nut jobs in their own way.
Gates wants to kill off 90% of the population on Earth so now he's a special nut job.

•First it is ridiculed
•Then it is violently opposed
•Finally it is widely accepted as self evident

It is interesting that several groups went after clothing manufacturers about human rights abuse of overseas workers but no one is going after Apple and other elecronics manufacturers about Foxcon, the Chinese company that makes iPads and tons of other gadgets.
Labor laws in China dictate that overtime should not exceed 36 hours per month. The report says that workers are usually subjected to 50 to 80 hours of overtime a month. In the Chengdu facility — where Foxconn employees put together the iPad — staff could expect a grueling 80 to 100 hours of overtime, on top of the 174 regular work hours.

Even as a teenager I recognized the ingenuity and manipulation of "overtime".

An employer hires an employee and offers something under what should be a competing local hourly wage for similar work, BUT offers the employee a 'generous OT opportunity'. The naive new hire sees this 1.5X and even 2X OT offer and thinks it wonderful he can make SO much extra money, not recognizing the employer has ingeniously taken even more advantage than the lower base wage.

I worked 100 hours in one week when I was in high school and I can tell you that was extremely hard. Luckily, I never had to do that again. But can you imagine working 80 hours a week for years? It's one thing to do it during college - going to classes and working - it's another to do the same thing day in and day out. No wonder the suicide rate is so high...

Trustafarian
A well to do person that is not encumbered by a job and usually
has hair matted into dreadlocks. While not especially materialistic, they
have resources that enable them to attend a multitude of events such
as Burning Man, all forms of jam band concerts, wear designer
"distressed clothing", attend environmental protests, always have
the latest tech, and are most often funded by their parents or a
trust fund.

Yeah they do like to spin it like it's a sea of unwashed hippies down there. Of course, it isn't, but that group is the easiest to pick on.

OWS is so yesterday. In Chicago, it's now all about Occupy Garrett's

Image
Groups have gathered at every Garrett's location. No one is sure what exactly their demands are but some think it involves "buttery goodness".

Image
The protestors seem to come in all shapes and sizes. This is a pretty serious bunch.

Image
Cold weather doesn't seem to deter these determined protestors. In fact, more show up as it gets colder...

Image
The protestors seem to be content with no plans to leave. Instead of signs, they seem to all carry bags with "Garrett's" printed on them and one hand inside the bag at all times.

Well the one in the top center of the picture seems to prefer picking her nose over Garrett's.

In this nice fall weather, $12 bags of popcorn, $6 lattes, twittering on $300 iPhones, $125 phone packages, beautiful blankets and lawn chairs. . . protesting is great way to induce self-righteous glory.

Let see what happens when the temps drop to the 30's.

I think the basis of the grievances are very much legitimate.
Really has nothing to do with owning nice things. :)

Like crack-coated popcorn, for example.
