Hey all. I am building a book cover for my novel prior to uploading it to Kindle Direct Publishing. My novel is done, although I probably have about 5% of Kindle specific reformatting to go, plus the cover. I could use a few screen shots of an American Pilot on Mars with his back to the picture taker, looking out on preferably a flat landscape. I will have to touch the pilot up a bit, and do a little artwork to make it non proprietary, but I will use it for a general base.
I took Dx's advise and my landscape is being drawn from a Mars Rover panoramic view shot.
Warzone:Operation Wolfhunt is expected to be uploaded to KDP/Amazon Nov 1, 2011 if all goes well.

Re: Book cover
Hi Kahless, have you looked at lulu.com? You can publish and print your book yourself and e-publish through their site. My niece has written 2 books and published them through lulu.com and Amazon.
Check it out at http://www.lulu.com/publish/books/?cid=us_home_nav_bk

Re: Book cover
Yes, Kindle Direct Publishing is through Amazon.com. They are the largest epublisher in the world, but I am thinking also about Smashbooks. I am not thinking yet about any kind of paper self-publishing, still kicking that idea around. Did your daughter say that she had to commit with Lulu to give up her book rights? With Kindle/Amazon, they just market it and give me 75% of the book price, but I remain sole owner of the property.

Re: Book cover
Same with lulu, they don't want ownership, they just facilitate publishing. If someone orders a paperback, they make it on the fly...
