Indeed, and like beer or wine is to make, it'll be cheaper to grow, so commercial growers will find the appropriate price point to keep only the most ardent hobbyist from growing their own.

Commercial growing for medicinal use had opened up in Canada a number of years ago. I imagine there were some hoops to jump through and limits to THC content but it's been a while and I can't recall the government rules and requirements.
