Here it is nearly the middle of December and it's 0°C and kind of raining. Bad year to have bought an expensive parka; the type which is used in the Antarctic.
We did have some colder weather earlier and so the lake has quite a bit of ice. Really nice ice actually. I don't think I've ever seen ice as smooth and clear (the lake bed is visible in shallower parts of the lake) - at least not on LOTW. I've seen it on smaller, less exposed lakes around here.
From what I'm told, shallower parts of the lake are nearly 14" thick.
Later today I venture out and try to take some pics. If it does get consistently colder I'll have to sharpen up my skates.

Not too often you have natural ice that nice to skate on plus there isn't really any snow so you don't have to shovel off portions to skate on.
