Yeah I was alerted to the difference when uploading an 88mb video to YouTube took about a minute.

The problem with speed test tho is that its inaccurate. I sometimes get much faster speeds using servers further away... and with Blue it always wants to test his connection to Taiwan rather than Seoul. :grin:

Nah, ISPs are just to lazy to extend their FiOS/Uverse services out an extra mile. I try to stay away from Cable -- I don't like to share :mrgreen:

DSL is just as bad as cable.
What's really sad is we have a high speed government internet connection at work that serves a single, pathetic use and is grossly under used.

The thing about the gov net connection is that unlike commercial internet there is absolutely no overhead. One of these days I'll have to test its speed....

Is there a reason why the company you work for likes to spend more than it should? :?

We don't have to pay for that extra connection... we just have access to the gov's own private internet.; )

Then the question is, why does the govt give you warp speed when you're just driving to the store across the street :)

The thing is, we pay for two commercial internet connections;
one is strictly internet access for everyone.
The second is used exclusively as a transport for the dedicated vpn connections to all the branch offices (used for exchange email, access to terminal servers, etc).

The private government internet (which again, is a completely separate entity from public internet) is used to upload critical data that various government ministries collect from our work.
The benefit is that it is completely private, encrypted, and since it is not public internet, all that much more secure.

We used to have only a single public internet connection, but to the branch offices in remote location that rely on wireless internet...well, access to the internal network was pokey to put it mildly.
Separating the two is worth every cent.
