Combining Forces for BZ Sake???

Post by FFAxTomcat480 »

The way things are going in BZ in general, combining forces sounds out of this world  , but if there's to be a BZ for tomorrow - it's going to have to happen. This cannot go on like this.

I agree. But there's no stopping people from playing BZE as far as I know.

Or stopping pricks from being pricks.
Generally speaking I don't have issues with many people over at spockistan.
But my attitude isn't going to change theirs I'm afraid.

This all stems from Spock and Paco, we already know their attitude and ideology so what are you suggesting?

I doubt this can ever really happen. The last time I was there and tried to explain some of the downsides to this whole BZ1.net vs others that can make this community feel unapproachable, all I got was just this like, "There's no drama here, silly! :D". Heck, the only reason why we're even getting a 1.5 is because Ken is Ken, and that's even an uneasy truce.

They all read from the same script, even some of the bz2 peeps used that "ken is ken" phrase, i have some other words, "TRUTH" and "PROOF"!

The reason there is any further Bz work being done beyond Activision is due to the actions of many people, pull a link in the chain and you have NOTHING. Those people responsible in order are two i don't have permission to release their names, me, Tug, Ken, and to a lesser degree... even Spock did his part.

How would we combine forces?

Them: Despise BZE, Uphold old grudges , reek of puberty
Us: Like creative contributions, Don't care for old grudges (it's just so easy to pick on them), reek of Rogaine :)

IIRC, Dx and Spock do playtest new builds, so there is already some mutual truce.

Well. . . as I've said many times over the last 2 or so years, it really doesn't matter now. The numbers on paco's server and 911 server is so minuscule, combining both will not help. It might provide a game or two more a day . . . maybe.

But beyond spork hacking games in the pursuit to flush out hackers, no matter if there was no hacker actually in a game he was hacking, paco linking in his 'P' to homo-porn in the pursuit to trash BZE, spock banning players because he feels threatened, etc. . . . beyond all that . . . the simple mindset of having no regard for the game as the functioning core of a community, is still present. Since that perspective and mindset is now a sizable percentage of the community, it clearly does not have the necessary amount of mature aggregate to function as a single whole.

Hurts when you cannot be on every second of the day to catch a game & when you do have some free time & no games can't be found due to the fact not enough/not many have stuck around for one.

Need to have a Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country moment really bad... & just hope it works out. As inhumane as it sounds this consolidation will preserve what's left & for now.... slow down that day WE ALL don't want to see. From being on a lot & leaving the game open, I can tell you Rusty Guns & CUDA WOULD play more games if there was that one game around when they log on, these are two more players on the verge of leaving - they are coming on less & less :(.

These are all sad facts & if no mutual understanding can ever be brought to justice, everything being done now would be lost forever.

I'm afraid that's usually the date of all old games. BZ/E is no different.
As time passes fewer players will remain.

I'm sucking up my allotted vacation time right now so I'm not on at all.

I can barely get cell signal to read these posts! :)

Plenty of old games are still kicking it beautifully, look at GamerRanger's list of games being played at any given moment - most of them are over 10 years old & have huge fanbase - all hours of the night because there from all over the world. I don't care about Spock & their gang anymore because their contribution to the game is for the most part in the wrong direction, but saving players who still play the game is more important.

Only other help BZ can get in general is getting put up on gog.com which will benefit the game 1000%

I still think the stock game should be promoted over any other version.

One of the issues in the past was Spock and his folowers would follow players around the net turning each thread to promote the game into a cat fight which would drive people away rather than bring in new.

While Spock seems much less interested these days, i'm sure Spork and others would try to do the same again.

I wouldn't worry about Spork, he really has no spine and is easily defeated in such threads -- newcomers won't need to hear his back story to notice this. He's the apple that hit a few too many branches on the way down.

I've been a big supporter of this but because of BZ's licensing it will never happen.
GoG struck a deal with activision last year and started selling a number of their games. You'll notice neither BZ1 nor BZ2 were among those titles.

Probably because the rights are with Atari now.

You don't need an especially robust intellect to cause issues. Paco has made that abundantly clear over the years.

Why is Atari being so stubborn? I've read up also they've ruined Baldur's Gate 3 from ever coming out as well due to copyright stuff. This is such bull...... Is there a way around this? Do they also have say in Red Odyssey?

Atari ever since Atari Jaguar in the early 90's have gone downhill to non existent in anything, but yet they hold copyrights???

Robert Waring said Activision owns TRO but Activision said per the contract Atari owns all rights since 2006.

Could contact Atari and ask them but i doubt they would spend any money to make it happen.
