BZ Archives Lives

Post by RCD2 »

Hello fellas, it has been awhile! Hope everyone is well.

I recently broke a few bones in my foot at work and man do I have time to burn now. Out of my boredom and looking for something to keep me amused I decided to rebuild the old BZ Archive site. It's a work in progress and I still need to do a lot of CSS work to match the BZ colors. Anyway give it a look over, when you have time.

Website

Just DL'd newest BZE and it looks pretty sweet, good job DX =)

Sorry to hear about your injury, get well soon.

Looking good, what i can see of it, IE8 seems to freeze up.

The site worked OK for me, try using Chrome.

Happy to see all of that BZ content back online. Many BZ links are dead these days...

I use chrome as my default browser but I tested it on IE-8 and Firefox , so I'm not sure what may be causing freezes for you. It is ported to auto detect what mobile device you're on and adjust to fit that screen. I also tested it on my i-phone and i-pad, and it worked ok. The i-frames get a little whacky on some mobile devices however.

Yep, I have noticed that myself over the years Eddy. Harder to find info and reliable sources to download content for BZ1. Well I have this domain paid up for the next 5 years so we should be good on my end for awhile =)

P.S it is taking me a little longer to get the bulk of the content up due to a few reasons. One is since I want this site to be mobile friendly I have been going through every BZ video and reformatting it with the h.264 codec to compress it. Rocketman is up btw , DX=)

I have not added any of the newer releases 1.5, BZE until I get the ok from the author to mirror it at the site. *cough*

I still have to upload 1.3.9.1 yet. I been working on a data build of the assets, only have CCA and NSDF done atm. Have 3 more races to do plus props and testing.

I certainly haven't given up on the website, It's just that I been have awful busy learning wiki code and building a portal for it.

I'm about 55% done with it now and decided to post a link to it so that any who care, can catch any errors and help me out. The soundtracks are up and most of the official videos. I'm replaying the TRO missions so I can gather intel and screenshots. BZII content will be added next.

BZ Wiki and also BZ Wiki Credits.

It's something I have always wanted to do, and since my foot mishap... we gonna get 'R' done.

Damn, another wiki for me to refer to. We've got too many of the damn things :P

I'm trying to get everything documented on battlezone.wikia.com, which as far as I can tell is the most complete of the four. Any help you can give is much appreciated. Perhaps we can add your wiki to the interwiki network we've got going between there and BZComplex.

I'm more of a BZ1 fan, I see the others as being too far BZII, in content and opinion. Plus they are normally ran by Brits that spell 'Armory' and 'Color' wrong. Just kidding bud. I like your wiki and you have a good head for writing. I don't like sites with tons of advertisement is my only turn off, there.

I'm just doing one in green and trying to be as accurate and true to the game(s), as I can.

The Characters image looks out of place. (mostly Bz2 names under it)
I never liked seeing Bz mixed with Bz2, they should be separated on their own pages.
Other than that, it's looking good Launchalot.

Thanks fellas.

DX, I did do a google search for Grizzly 1 and the only image that came up was a brown bear pooping in the woods. Frank Burns, being an old Black Dog seemed the logical choice. AHadley as soon as I get my BZ1 stuff put up, I will register at your site and help out where I can. I'm hoping you can help me out with my BZ2 related stuff =)

Questions:
1. how much does the rave gun cost?
2. how much for the WASP? and where can I find the reticle for this weapon?

Grizzly One's name is Jason Bates, by the way. The CCA player is Alexi Doyesytevski.

Re the character articles being mostly for BZ2 characters... let's be honest, you could count the characters in BZ1 who are significant enough to warrant an article each on one hand and they're all as flat as boards.

Maybe you should use Eisenhower since he created the NSDF. ;)

Unfortunately, since Eisenhower's part in Battlezone deviates very little from his part in the real world there's little point in giving him an article as large as, say, Cooke or Bates. His would be best consisting of a few lines consisting of a little transclusion from his Wikipedia page, a few short sentences about the differences, and a link to same Wikipedia article.

If you want an image of a non-BZ2 character to use then your options are Jon Beardsly, the man in this image or the group of men in the larger version, the NSDF and CCA poster-guys, or the men from the NSDF victory shell background.

Any idea who General Collins is? (http://www.usskidd.com/collins.html)

I had no idea that General Collins had even existed until clicking your link, but why would I?

I'm afraid he's unrelated to Battlezone anyway - the NSDF general was named after Battlezone's lead designer.

General Collins was the lead designer for Battlezone as seen in the credits and also in his memo.

Come on fellas, lets not fill this thread with arguments, I'm trying to build this thing and would like everyone's help in filling in gaps when needed.

Example: I'm still a little confused over the Styx and Lerna Complex connection. This was my interpretation, correct me if I'm wrong.
