Warzone: Nemesis

Post by Kahless »

After 9 years, the first book of the Warzone trilogy is soon to be released. Book One is entitled Warzone:
Nemesis. Book Two will follow about 8 months later, and hopefully book thre will follow 8 months after that. To my knowledge, this will be the only novel ever written inspired by the Battlezone game. The book will be available in both paperback and Kindle ebook. Putting together the book cover is the last hurdle in the process. when it is initially in print, I will offer a few free copies through Good Reads.

Best regards, Kahless

My artist has 2/3 of the bookcover for Create Space done. I am still having one more editor check the manuscript for flaws. Today I went to the bank, got the paperwork and filed with the County Clerks office my business dba Graham Publishing House. A bit grandiose, perhaps, but a 9 year effort and doing all of the publishing myself, feel like I earned it. I opened a business checking account for any expeditures and royalty deposits. It is finally feeling like this is real. The only thing I have to do is wait for the last two pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.

I finally got my novel formatted for Smashwords. I am offering it for free for the next two weeks through their outlet. http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/353690 While I was working on the formatting for Smashwords, I updated the ebook through Kindle for my first revision. I should be uploading the print copy offered by Kindle and other outlets tongight, which will make that version unavailable for about a day.

BTW Eddie, you can download your Kindle copy again and the update is free.

If yo purchased it though Kindle, any time I do a revision, you can still downloand it without paying again. If yo got it from Smashwords for free, well-tha's another story. I am working on a third revision now. (For some reason, even aftwer i uploaded my first changes, still refers to it on Kindle and Create Space as 1st Edition. In any case, all elctronic formats of the book are $0.99 and I will probably keep the first volume of the series there, at least for now.

Thank you. It was a long process, and even yet it still evolving. I am working on the second edition of the first one right now. Like BzE, there are many eveolutions until you get it right. My beta testers are my reviewers. On Good Reads I have 4.72 out of 5.0 rating, but it is not the 5 star ratings that tell me what I need to know. It is the "I like it, but..." Some feedback from two people that like the book overall but had some positive and constructive criticism has sent me back to the drawing board to make some things better. Mostly I am working on improving style. I would be interested in what you think the strong and weak points are. And please, go to Good Reads, Kindle and?or Smashwords and leave a review.

I just dropped in to see what is going on here and saw a post to my thread. I've been in sort of a lock-down for a few weeks working on the Second Edition of Warzone: Nemesis. Last August I uploaded my book to Amazon, gave away a few printed copies in a GoodReads giveaway to both the U.S and Canada. Then I had a giveaway of the Ebook version and between a Smashwords and Amazon, gave away over 800 copies. I got some good reviews, sold a few copies, and learned some things from the reviews that weren't perfect. What the less than perfect reviews pointed out some things that needed added, and some things that needed changed. Due to those suggestions for improvement, I added two new chapters, and greatly improved another one. I hope to be satisfied with the effort and move on to Volume Two of the trilogy, entitled Warzone: Operation Wolfhunt.

I got a book review today on Amazon that was interesting. Keep in mind, I don't know this reader. Check out the link. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EC190BI.

The reader did not read the acknowledgements page of my book, clearly stating that this was writtn under the inspiration of the game Battlezone.
First off, the book is extremely well-paced except for the slow intro, which isn't bad at all, it just sets the pace and mood. The book is well-written, no major typos, rare spelling errors.

Secondly, the author mentioned writing this in 2004. The quandry i faced was that upon reading the book a quarter of the way in, it reminded me of a game i played when i was still a kid. Activision's Battlezone. Everything is strangely similar...the plot, the tech...everything. For those who are not familiar with Battlezone, [...] I've always thought Battlezone was a game that was ahead of its time. Full tank sim/rts/fps. It was one of the best games during the late 90s.

In any case, whether this novel is based on the game or it, it isn't bad at all. It was one of my childhood fond memories, a book about battlezone. Just like Diane Duane's x-com. Only books can bring substance into computer games.
The reader goes on to tag his review with a picture of Battlezone under my bookcover.
