Battlezone is Battlezone.... It's the same great game that it always has been.
What could make it better.. you say? How about where you play it?

As the Bzone community has aged. Sadly, we've drawn down to just two public forums to choose from.
While underlying influences has drawn most people to one side, it has also made that side a place for biased judgment, and an area of maintained regular scrutinized surveillance for any position other that it's own agenda.

Does this sound like fun to you? - Are you sure your getting the full picture here? - Does this sound like some sort of authoritative rule?
I'm just asking questions.... But I think you know the right answers! - You do have a choice!

Let me give you an example: From whichever forum you play in.... If you were to admit that you were playing on the other side, from which side to you think that you would be criticized, condemned and reprimanded?

Let me ask you again... Does this sound like a place where you go to have fun?

Lets look at this word "Club" = A stout heavy stick, usually thicker at one end, suitable for use as a weapon // No! Not that meaning (this might best be used from the other side as to what is mentally be done to you).

"Club" = a group of people who meet to participate in an activity (such as a sport, hobby or game), an association of persons for some common object usually jointly supported and meeting periodically; also : a group identified by some common characteristic.

This seems to only reinforce this position.
I, for one... prefer this forum. If only because the people here, are of better character.

ok that both spock and spork are assholes but for the sake of it(even Wing commander has mods and a dedicated community, Fallout runs on skub but is stable, warhammer community has even brought back some classic pearls of the 90's for modern machines and they bitch all time), its time for everyone stop bitchin for a few seconds and start to think a bit for all of our sakes, to bring back the community to its old self, to bring new players, damn, even steve blum would be happy to see one of his 1st actings here in this game as Corporal Buzz.

heck i would like to see BZ1 with LOTS and LOTS of Mods, like High Poly Tanks form the trailer, Effects, Terrain, and even the Alpha Hud from the magazines

Minus the support for high poly terrain or models with textures as replacers, a BZ game with the Cinematic models(including the Heavy Tank from the Cover art and the splash.avi) and some effects would be neat to bring some more people

Updates and improvements are always a great thing...
Yet even as Ken and others are moving to improve the games visuals the community is dysfunctional as a group.
Extreme mindsets have been developed and planted deeply into new comers and even some veterans.
Take for example; The Battlezone 1 installers only includes its server file to the game. On top of that, the absurd rhetoric and control from there, only serves to fuel the malfunctioning elements currently taking place.

Separatism/divisiveness will only serve to make things worst and ultimately lead to this games demise.
As we look forward to this games future a sense of inclusiveness and cooperation must dictate the actions of all whom have chosen to visit and play this game.

I can't see high poly terrain ever being done and you'd lose the thumper weapon. If you want to use high poly models as terrain that should be possible with another class ID that is treated like terrain, I'm sure Ken could do it if he wanted. (this could work now with the per poly collision)
The box art tank has been done many times and can be put in game. (a couple more LOD levels would make it easier)
New effects are possible. (some more work than others)

As for cosmetic changes bringing in more people... I'm not so sure about that but alphas on objects and some directx 9 lighting could go a long way with new content.
