Hello!

Hello!

Checked out the board and I don't really recognize anyone, but I am sure handle's have changed a lot over the years. Some of you may remember me, probably not, lol. But I got the urge to start playing Battlezone again if anyone is still playing, and from the looks of the few forums I found, there are still a few people playing.

So if I understand correctly there are three versions going right now. The original version, a 1.something version, and a Battlezone Enhanced version. So what are most people playing right now.

I got on a couple years ago...I think...and downloaded a version of Battlezone Enhanced. I still had that saved and pulled it up, but when I go into multiplayer I only see one server in it, and no people on it. From my reading on the forum here it looks like there should be more than one server listed, so I went to your server link and downloaded a new server.dat file but I still only see just the one 911 server.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. And I am looking forward to playing...hopefully, lol.

Find your way to the download board and get Bz 1.4, you'll see 4 servers on it.
All truth goes through three stages:

•First it is ridiculed
•Then it is violently opposed
•Finally it is widely accepted as self evident

Welcome!

Like DX says, there are 4 servers but there are also multiple versions of the game. There is 1.4 the original version. You can only find this version from the original CD. Then there are numerous installers out there, all of them modded to one extent or another (no CD required, modified tank models, author-preferred tweaks and changes, etc). Many people will call the installers "stock" but that isn't the case.

There is also 1.5 in development that supports DX9 and has a lot of changes from the original (mostly in the engine but some things affect gameplay too). This works with a wider range of PCs, it should work with most newer ones XP and up.

The current version of BZE is 1.11p which also supports DX9. This was recently released by DX and is being thoroughly tested by everyone. You will need this version to see other people in BZE. Are you familiar what BZE is?

Again welcome!
