Do those guys know of BZC and BZE?

Post by Gamer1 »

OK, I just saw the line quoted in the subject in a thread here and I have to say, I don't know of BZC or BZE..

I would like to be enlightened please. When BZ II came out I continued to play BZ for a few years after because I still enjoyed it's game play a lot and the new version was different enough that it took a while for me to warm up to it. Then I pretty much didn't go back. I had no idea that people where continuing to enhance the original game. So now I know there has been a group of hard core fans that have been adding to and improving upon the original game. I'm planning on digging out my old CDs and reloading it up. So I'm kind of a newb but not totally..
:D

BZC is this site, which has been around for a while now.

BZE is Battlezone Enhanced which is a Partial or Total Conversion (depending on how you look at it) of the original BZ.

It adds new gaming elements, new units, new maps.
It doesn't have any of the original single player missions, although it is sort of being developed in the direction of having it's own (with four player racers instead of 2).

You can download it from the site here (be sure to grab the map pack as well).

As for the stock game, one of the original developers, Ken Miller, is currently working on a patch to make the game more playable on modern operating systems. You can check out the development of the patch on his thread here, or over at the BZ Mates Family forum.

Welcome aboard.

BZC is this forum, BattleZone Club, it's had that name since 2004 when it was founded by Kewl-1 as an 502c non profit after the old Battlezone Federation forums closed.

BzE is BattleZone Enhanced, basicly my hobby expansion in development.

Avatar and GeneralBlackDragon are still grinding away at it. I've still got to get back my copy of the test build, but from what I remember it does work very well indeed. There just doesn't seem to be much to it, as an awful lot of time has been spent making everything ready with the basics.

They have done a faithful reproduction of BZ 1.4 in BZ2. Hopefully they can get it to a releasable state soon.

When i tested it it was having mouse control problems that required Ken or Nathan to fix.

I experienced that too, the last time I tried it. That was a while ago, hopefully it was fixed by now.
