nobody - or I need help

OK guys - I've been away for a while. After 25 years and raised 3 kids, we sold our house in town and moved to the country. It took a while to get an office set up, but as of this week, I have an office - and my old desktop is working fine. One difference - I'm back to Roadrunner Cable instead of the DSL I'd had for a few years.

So, I've been to the old servers for the non-enhanced - nobody ever there. I've been to the enhanced servers - nobody ever there. Do I have a servers.dat problem? Do I have a cable modem problem? I have the same wireless router, so I don't think that's the problem (although I did reset it - do I need to open some port, or enable gaming mode or something?). Or, is it simply that nobody plays anymore?

I'm having major surgery next week, and I'm going to have to be home for 4-8 weeks. The first few I'm not likely to be able to play. After that, I'm going to want to play A LOT. Any help getting going would be much appreciated. I've been missing it!

It will depend on what time of day you are online and which version of BzE/BZ you have running.

Both installers (actually all three!) on this site point the games to the same server session, so no matter if you are in TRO, BZ, or BZE you'll see everyone else.

During the day there isn't much traffic. Best time of day is late afternoon and early evening. Just make sure you have the latest version of BZE as older version go to now-extinct server sessions and you'll never see anyone there.

Yes, you most likely have an out-dated server.dat.

Install BZE from HERE and you should be good.

As to BZ1.4. . . I haven't played it for well over a year.

The easiest way to setup would be install 1.4, download Ken's 1.5 executable Here and use the common files installer for the asset updates Here

Alternatively you could download Spock's full installer.

Spock mailed me a link to the patch, too. You guys all double rock. And all that in about 20 minutes. I can't believe more people don't play. With all the new fancy video games, BZ is still the best - bar none - hope that doesn't offend anyone.

Guys,
I got in 90 minutes of Colli DM last night. I'd been playing mostly 1.4 until I moved in the spring. I played enhanced last night. Very nice. Good DM game. One disappointment - I didn't see the flanker in the ships list for the colli game I joined. I flew a scout, but was disappointed the flanker's not available.

But, I'm not complaining. I'm just glad to be back in the ZONE. Thanks guys. Problem(S) solved! Good work.

Hmmm, not sure which Colli you were in. The stock Colli map has the Flanker, as well as Colli Enhanced.

Found the flanker. The order of ships is not the same as in 1.4 - that's what threw me off. Thanks again for all the help!

Dan just type the name of the map like "coll" and you'll see the list jump to colisium. Nonstock maps will usually say enhanced, BOP, BzE or something similar.

It would be nice to sort maps another way, maybe one day i'll get to it.

Roger that DX. What I meant was that the vehicles in COLLI do not cycle in the same order as they did in 1.4
In 1.4 the flanker was two ships before (to the left of) the Grizzly. Now it's not. In 1.4 they were sorted alphabetically. In enhanced (not an enhanced map, just Colli in 1.3E) they're grouped NSDF and CCA it seems like. I wasn't paying total attention (see Fatty, above), but I know they're in a different order.
